CSE training: Understanding and engaging with boys

Aim: To increase professionals ability in engaging and safeguarding boys and young men who have been, are being or are at risk of being sexually exploited.

The course will cover:

  • Barriers for boys in engaging with services and disclosing CSE
  • How male-friendly methods can help boys engage
  • How to make services and practice inclusive of and accessible to boys
  • How elements of masculinity can be utilised to help boys engage
  • Challenging views around masculinity and “toxic masculinity”
  • Real life anonymised examples of how boys at risk of CSE engaged
  • How societal conditioning and environment can affect boys
  • Understanding erections, the male brain and average sex differences
  • Useful activities and resources
